Frequently asked questions

Is an apprenticeship a permanent government job?
No. An apprenticeship is training for a fixed period with a monthly stipend, under the Apprentices Act, 1961. It gives valuable experience, and some recruiters give weightage to their own apprentices in later recruitment, as stated in their rules.
Where do I register for apprenticeships?
Trade apprentices usually register on the Apprenticeship India portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in), and graduate and technician (diploma) apprentices on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in). Each notification says which portal to use.
Who can apply for apprentice posts?
It depends on the category: ITI holders for trade apprentices, diploma holders for technician apprentices and graduates for graduate apprentices, usually within an age limit and often only for those who passed recently. Check the notification for the exact eligibility.
