Which CGPA formula should I use?

CBSE certificates state that percentage = CGPA × 9.5, and most universities on a 10-point scale use the same rule. Some universities publish their own conversion on the marksheet or in an ordinance — if yours does, that formula takes precedence, and recruiters accept the one printed by your university.

Rounding in application forms

Enter the percentage exactly as calculated, up to two decimals. Do not round 59.6% up to 60% to meet an eligibility condition — most notifications explicitly say percentages will not be rounded off.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert CGPA to percentage for SSC or bank forms?
Use the conversion formula of your board or university. For CBSE and most universities it is CGPA × 9.5. If your university gives no formula, many recruiters accept CGPA × 10 — check the notification.
How is percentage calculated from marks?
Divide the marks obtained by the maximum marks and multiply by 100. Include all subjects counted in the aggregate on your marksheet.
